Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer Rajagopal Sunkara inspected the work done by the sanitary workers and field workers in the East Zone of the Corporation. He appealed to the sanitary and field workers to do their best and said field workers should create adequate awareness among the public about mosquito-borne diseases. The inspection was carried out at the office of the Health Inspector, Sowripalayam, Ward No. 65, East Zone, Coimbatore Corporation. he inspected the attendance records of the sanitary workers and informed them that sanitary workers must report to work on time.
He also said while collecting garbage, he asked them to segregate it as compostable garbage and non-compostable garbage and said for a clean corporation, they have to do their job better. He asked to remove debris trapped in the rainwater drainage canals so that the water does not stagnate. He said, all cleaners must come to work wearing a mask, hands should be cleaned frequently with disinfectant and asked everyone to be vaccinated. Later, he asked them to advise the public not to dump rubbish in public places on the roadsides, but only in rubbish bins. The Corporations Commissioner then inspected the coronavirus prevention work at the Uppilipalayam Health Inspector's office premises under East Zone Ward No.64 and said details should be recorded in the Covid-19 field survey records.
He said people with colds and flu should be notified immediately by the coronavirus control room and health officials and they must be given a Covid-19 test. He said that they should wear a mask while working, wash hands frequently with disinfectant and be vaccinated. He asked the field workers to inform the public to remove unwanted broken plastic items, tires, coconut shells, broken jugs, broken cement tanks, etc. in the houses to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. He said the water tanks in the house should be covered with mosquito repellent and insect repellent. Toilets should be kept clean and stagnant water from water-filled flower vase, bottom shelf of refrigerator and money plant must be removed every three days. They said that the public should be made aware of the diseases caused by mosquitoes.
