Ration rice smuggling from Coimbatore to Kerala: Kerala youths arrested
Coimbatore: A vehicle transporting three and a half tonnes of ration rice from Coimbatore to Kerala was intercepted by civil authorities during a search. Two Kerala youths were arrested for smuggling ration rice in a vehicle. Coimbatore, Pollachi Civil Supplies Crime Investigation Police were involved in a vehicle search. Then a freight lorry with Kerala registration number came through and the police tried to stop it. But, that truck went on without stopping. Police immediately chased the truck and rounded up the vehicle.
Two people, including the driver, were arrested and questioned. They are Anthony (34) of Nallur near Chittoor, Palakkad district of Kerala and Arun (26) of Kannappanagar, Coimbatore. It was also revealed that they tried to smuggle 30 tonnes of ration rice in a truck from Coimbatore to Kerala. Following this, the police arrested both of them and confiscated 30 tons of rice.
