Coimbatore: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced a total of 29,422 passengers have been served at Coimbatore International Airport in June.

Coimbatore International Airport caters to people from seven surrounding districts, including Coimbatore. The number of passengers using the airport dropped significantly after the first wave and second wave of the Coronavirus epidemic.

The second wave of epidemic began before fullreturn to normalcy. This again reduced the number of flights and passengers operating at Coimbatore Airport. With only 5 flights operating daily in May, the situation is now slightly different. There are 11 daily flights to Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad. Air Arabia operates international flights from Coimbatore to Sharjah.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a statement on the monthly operation of airports, Coimbatore International Airport handled a total of 29,422 passengers in June. 28 thousand 53 people in the domestic transport sector. There are 539 people in the international aviation sector.

The number of flights operated and the number of passengers are expected to increase further in the coming months.
