State’s debut Covid vaccination camp for hemophilia patients held at the Hemophilia Treatment Center at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital
Coimbatore: The Hemophilia Treatment Center at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and the Hemophilia Society Coimbatore Chapter conducted a special vaccination camp for members with hemophilia, at the Hemophilia Treatment Center at CMCH on Friday.

According to the organisers, this is the first time that such an event has been organised in the state.
If numbers are to be believed, about 350 people who dwell in and around Coimbatore, suffer from hemophilia. Of them, about 250 patients are over 18 years of age. According to medical experts, bleeding lasts for a longer duration in patients who suffer from hemophilia. Such patients were given anti-hemophilic factors and were monitored to prevent such bleeding. After the infusion of anti Hemophilic factor, they were vaccinated with the Covaxin dose.

The special inoculation drive was inaugurated by the CMCH Dean, Dr. Nirmala, in the presence of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital's Hemophilia Nodal Officers, Dr. Mangaiyarkarasi, Dr. Geethanjali and Pediatric HODDr. Bhooma, social volunteer Nikhil along with member’s of Hemophilia Society Coimbatore chapter.
