Police said Muthukumar, 33, of Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, was searching for a job abroad on a social networking site. He got Dinesh's cell phone number and contacted him. He said he has a job offer in Singapore and medical certificates were required for that.
Following this, Muthukumar prepared a medical certificate and contacted Dinesha. He then said that if he wanted to go to Singapore, he would have to pay an airfare of Rs 5,000 and a visa fee of Rs 27,633. Muthukumar has sent this to him online. The person who took the money switched off the cell. Following this, Muthukumar lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Cyber Crime Police online and the District Cyber Crime Police Inspector Jaya Devi filed a case and conducted an investigation.
Police found out that Dinesh was hiding in Chennai. Following this, the cyber crime police went to Chennai and arrested Dinesh. The first phase of the investigation has revealed that his hometown is Kannankurichi in Salem district. Similarly, many people are said to be deceived into getting jobs abroad. The police are collecting more information about the accused.
