Kalpana, a cosmetologist from Mettur area, Podanur, Coimbatore has four pet dogs at home which reportedly are left out often. The dogs apparently bark at pedestrians and motorists on that road thereby preventing public from using the road.
Kalpana reportedly did not pay heed even when the neighbours complained. The people of the area hence lodged a complaint with the Podanur police. When the police arrived at the scene and reprimanded Kalpana, an enraged Kalpana stood in front of the house and began shouting at the public.
Jaisankar (64), a former railway official from the same area who witnessed the incident reprimanded Kalpana. An enraged Kalpana reportedly took an iron bar and hit Jaisankar who was critically injured and rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. Jaisankar has lodged a complaint with the police and the police have registered a case and are investigating.
