Houses built on the bund of Krishnampathy lake destroyed by Coimbatore corporation for the beautification project
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) destroyed and removed as many as 68 houses built on the bund of Krishnampathy lake over the process taking place to beautify the lake at an estimated cost of 19.36 crore.
The corporation officials reported having demolished houses and temples built on the eastern side of the lake. A total of 140 houses and five small temples have been removed in the process.
Walker space, cycle park and water treatment plants to treat sewage water before flowing in the river to be set up under the beautification process in this lake. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board allotted houses for the residents in the bund at Kovaipudur. Besides, the corporation has also undertaken a process to demolish the illegally built houses near rivers across the district and demolished 17 houses in Sunnambu Kalvai.
