Parthiban, 55, a special sub-inspector of the law and order unit at the Race Course police station, fell in love with Abhinaya, 40, of Varadharajapuram, Singanallur, Coimbatore.
Abinaya is separated from her husband. Her father works in a Uzhavar Sandhai. It is said that there was an illegal affair between Parthiban and Abhinaya. Thus Parthiban has bought 3 lakh worth of home appliances for Abhinaya. On the day of incident there was a dispute between the two and Sub-Inspector Parthiban attacked Abhinaya.
He set fire to the motorcycle of Abinaya's father which was parked at the Uzhavar Sandhai. Singanallur police have registered a case against Sub-Inspector Parthiban under 5 sections and arrested him. Coimbatore Law and Order Deputy Commissioner Jayachandran has ordered the dismissal of Sub-Inspector Parthiban last evening.
