13 lakh cash and 6 sovereign jewellery looted from house of a female government engineer in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Six sovereigns of jewellery and Rs 13 lakh cash was looted from the house of a highway assistant engineer near Sulur in Coimbatore district. The robbery has caused a stir in the area.
Srinivasan is from GKS near Coimbatore and his wife Dhanalakshmi is 42. She is working as an Assistant Engineer in the Highways Department, Tirupur District. On the 17th she locked her house and went with her family to a relative's house in Erode. Unidentified men broke into the front door of her house and opened the wardrobe in the room and looted Rs 13 lakh in cash and 6 sovereigns of jewellery.
When Dhanalakshmi returned home last night, she was shocked to find the door broken open. When she went inside the house, she saw that the money and jewellery had been looted from the wardrobe in the room. Dhanalakshmi informed the Sulur police about this. Police immediately rushed to the scene and conducted an investigation along with fingerprint experts and fingerprint was recorded. Sniffer dogs were also summoned. Police are still searching for the culprit.
