Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, Thirumurugan Gandhi explained, "On Sunday night the Modi government had tapped the mobile phones and computers of over 50 people and that it was an illegal act. Similarly, three years ago, a social activist was arrested by the Modi government for allegedly recording false information on his computer and had asked why the Government was acting illegally against those who were fighting for the people."
Thirumurugan Gandhi said such dishonest acts should be stopped and that the Modi Government had illegally used the Pegasus processor which could only be purchased by the Government from Israel for security but now there are fears that such illegal monitoring would continue to happen to everyone. He further added that the full list of spies would soon be used to curb media freedom in India and bring the media under complete control. It is alarming that the Tamil Nadu BJP leader has openly stated that he will bring the media under control in Annamalai in six months since the anti-democratic offensive is being planned and carried out. He also said that the security of those being monitored by the Pegasus processor who has been blamed as traitors has been questioned if the BJP is questioned.
"It is an act that threatens the media, human rights activists, lawyers, and financiers. Such measures were being taken as the BJP would not win the next parliamentary elections," he opined.
