Coronavirus vaccination camp held for tribals in Valparai
Coimbatore: A Coronavirus vaccination camp was conducted for the tribals in the forest area under the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve in Valparai.
There are 13 tribal settlements in the forest area under the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve in Valparai, Coimbatore district. These are inhabited by about 2000 tribes such as Kadar, Puliyar and Muduvar. They rarely come to the city for medical care as they live in dense forests. Therefore, the District administration has instructed the Health Department to raise awareness among the Forest Department officials and vaccinate them against Covid-19.
Following this, a team led by Valparai Regional Resource Center Chief, Dr. Lakshmanan with the help of the Forest Department has been visiting and vaccinating each tribal community. As part of this, 30 tribals in the Bala Kinaru settlement area were vaccinated on Sunday.
