Tirupur: Tirupur District Palladam Assembly constituency Pongalur Union is getting 35.48 lakh liters of drinking water daily from the Pillur Joint Drinking Water Project.
The work of fitting digital meters with SIM cards to measure the amount of drinking water supplied to Madhapur, Vadugapalayam, Mantripalayam and Kethanur villages under the Pongalur Union started today. These SIM cards will be issued to the Joint Drinking Water Engineer, Panchayat President and Panchayat Secretary. The amount of drinking water provided daily by the SIM card will go to the trio via SMS. The installation of the digital meter took place at a drinking water pumping station in Vadugapalayam, which supplies drinking water to nine villages in the Kethanur panchayat.

The DMK leader Kumar inspected the work. A consultation meeting was held with the Drinking Water Tax Board officials regarding these works. Pongalur Union President Kumar advised the government officials to take steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water from the municipality to the slums. The consultation meeting was attended by Kethanur Panchayat President Chitra Harigopal and government officials.
