People in possession of weapons without license can be booked under the Goondas Act according to the Superintendent of Police, Selvanagarathinam
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police has set up a special help desk for women to combat crimes and harassment against women and children.
The police will investigate crimes such as child marriage, child abuse, sexual harassment and violence against women.
The first phase of the center was a training camp for female police officers and inspectors on crime prevention against children and women.
The camp was inaugurated by the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, Selva Nagarathinam. "The public should inform the police if they have any information about those who are currently making explosives such as Avuttukai. People should also report to the police any information on anyone possessing a firearm without a valid license. The details of the informants will be kept confidential. We will continue to take all possible measures to eradicate the gun culture. Eight cases have been registered and about 13 firearms have been confiscated. Those who possess a weapon without a proper license could be arrested by the police under the Goondas Act," he warned.
