Coimbatore: At the Coimbatore South District TASMAC Employees Union Executive Consultative Meeting held on Friday at the Government Employees Union Building, Taluk Office Complex in Pollachi, it was highlighted that the Government ought to make TASMAC employees who are working over 18 years as permanent employees.

The meeting was attended by a large number of executives from various parts of the district including Pollachi and Coimbatore. The Union demanded that the Government of Tamil Nadu should make the employees of TASMAC who have been working on contract basis for 12 hours, for 18 years as permanent employees. They also demanded that in case of death and theft in shops, compensation should be done by insurance companies.

"The Government should provide employment to one member of the family in the event of the death of a TASMAC employee who has risked his life during the pandemic period. TASMAC employees should be declared as frontline employees. When they take the proceeds of the TASMAC outlets to the bank, they are attacked by miscreants who sometimes steal the proceeds. Hence, job security to prevent these risks should also be provided," emphasised the memebers of the Union.
