To commemorate the 119th anniversary of late Chief Minister, K Kamaraj, the Congress party named a street that had been unnamed thus far in Pollachi as 'Kamarajar Street.
Coimbatore: Pollachi Municipality lies in the foot of AnamalaiHills and has been divided into 36 Electoral Wards. In the 14th ward of the municipality, a street has been left unnamed for over two decades. Various petitions were sent to the municipal authorities to name the street on behalf of the Rajiv Gandhi Council.

With no near initiative seen in this regard from the Pollachi municipality, the Congress party named the street in the 14th Ward as Kamarajar Street and placed sings denoting the same, to commemorate the 119th birth anniversary of late Chief Minister K Kamaraj. They also submitted a petition to the Pollachi Municipal Commissioner requesting to name the road in the 14th ward area as Kamarajar Road.
