Heavy rains cause Valparai's New Boat House to flood and water to overflow into Yatri Niwas building
Coimbatore: Heavy rains lashed areas around Valparai in Coimbatore district causing rivers in the area to flood. The Nadumalai River and the Children's Park River near Valparai are flooded. The Valparai municipality had set up a new Boat House but since it was not in use, the boat house was flooded by the rain.

Social Welfare Officer Coordinators usually operate from the Yatri Niwas building owned by the municipality of the nearby Government Hostel Research House. The Boat House was flooded and water overflowed into the Yatri Niwas building but since officials were not on duty, there were no casualties reported. The municipal administration plans to drain the water from the boat house to ensure there is no flooding in the Yatri Niwas building.

Valparai and its surrounding areas have been receiving heavy rains and rainfall received as of 6 am on Thursday is as follows:
Valparai: 42 mm
Chinna Kallar: 88 mm
Nirar Dam: 40 mm
Sholayar Dam: 32 mm
