Southwest monsoon intensifies in Pollachi, Valparai area - Floods in Aliyar Monkey Falls causes extension of entry ban for tourists.
Coimbatore: The southwest monsoon has intensified in Tamil Nadu. Pollachi, Valparai and Anaimalai Aliyar have been receiving heavy monsoon rains for the last few days. Monkey Falls has been flooded since Thursday morning due to increased water supply in the catchment areas of the Monkey Falls, including Shakti Estate. Due to the continuous rains, the water supply to the Aliyar Dam has reportedly increased.
It is to be noted that despite the announcement of Covid-19 relaxations, the ban on tourists visiting the Monkey Falls has been extended by the district administration.
