Two buses collide on Kumaran Road in Valparai disrupting traffic for over half an hour.
Coimbatore On the one-way road from Valparai New Bus Stand to Gandhi Statue bus stand, at about 2 pm on Thursday, a bus from the Gandhi Statue bus stand to the estate area collided with two buses on Kumaran Road. No casualties were reported. However, both buses were involved in a head-on collision as old iron scraps were placed on the side of the road and cars were parked on the other side of the road.

Vehicles on both sides came to a standstill in the pouring rain for over half an hour, causing a traffic jam. Police had to rush to the spot of collision to divert the vehicles and man the traffic. The accident site stretched across both sides of the road from the New Bus depot to the Gandhi Statue bus stand. The accident is said to have been caused due to lack of space since vehicles were parked on one side of the road and the items in the old iron shops were placed on the other side of the road. Government bus drivers have reportedly been requesting to attend to the obstruction on this road.
