Houses occupied in the waterway were demolished on behalf of the Coimbatore Corporation. As part of this, 50 houses occupied and constructed on the waterway leading to the Krishnampathy pond in the PN Pudur Gokulam Colony area near Vadavalli were demolished by the corporation authorities.

A city planning officer of the corporation said, “These houses have been built by occupying the waterway leading to the Krishnampathy pond for 75 years. They have been allotted houses by the Slum Clearance Board. Following this, the electrical connections to these houses were also cut off and they were demolished today."

Police were deployed in the region as people opposed the demolition of houses and it caused a stir.
