Coimbatore: A visually-impaired couple live in Thondamuthur area of Coimbatore and have a 13-year old daughter.
While the parents live in a care home, the daughter has been living in a relative's house. The 13-year old daughter applied for a disability allowance but reportedly the person who filled the application added his own Aadhaar card number and bank account details instead of the girl's reference number in the application. The person has reportedly been receiving the monthly disability allowance meant for the visually-impaired couple.
The 13-year old girl who realised that she had been defrauded, lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Cyber Crime Police. The police led by Inspector Jayadevi conducted the investigation under the supervision of ASP Sangu. The fraudster was identified as a physically-challenged who had embezzled Rs. 7,250. The police recovered the money and handed it over to the couple and the fraudster was warned. The Cyber Crime police also talked to the bank management and helped them attach the reference number of the 13-year old girl to lelgally receive the allowance meant for her parents.
