Coimbatore: A young woman was robbed of her jewellery and the man who tried to flee was caught with serious injuries and handed over to the police.

Subhash, 32, of Pappampatti, Sulur, Coimbatore, runs a bakery. His wife Sarada 29 went to a nearby tailor shop and returned home. When Sarada Preetha came near the house, a young man on a motorcycle suddenly came near and snatched the 3 sovereign necklace from her neck. Sarada Preetha was shocked to see this and shouted. Hearing her screams, the neighbors ran and grabbed the boy who had escaped on a motorcycle and kicked him. The boy was later handed over to the Sulur police station.
The police filed a case and interrogated him and it was revealed that he was Selvakumar (27) from Madurai. Following this, the police arrested Selvakumar. Also, Selvakumar was seriously injured when the public beat him. He has been admitted with police protection for treatment at a private hospital.
