When the locals tried to catch the youths, two of the five youths fled, while the other three, who were under the influence of alcohol, were caught and tied up with the shirts they were wearing.
Police rushed upon information to the spot and conducted an investigation. Drunk youths got into scuffle with passers-by and stabbed an elderly man in the stomach with a knife as he refused to pay.
He was rushed to a hospital by the public.
Police have taken the three accused to the police station and are investigating to nab the two who fled.
