Coimbatore Corporation has deployed 7,000 employees to check oxygen levels as part of Coronavirus third wave alert in Coimbatore district.
Coimbatore: Various measures are being implemented by the Corporation in Coimbatore district to deal with the third wave of Covid-19. As part of this, 7,000 workers have been deployed to calculate the oxygen levels of people in the district.
Even as a decline is being witnessed in Covid-19 cases in Coimbatore district, the Coimbatore Corporation is going all out to ensure adequate measures are being taken to control the third wave of the pandemic in both Corporation and rural areas. 7,000 employees have been deployed to check oxygen levels and test for colds and flu. Earlier, 70 percent of the people in the Corporation area were affected by Covid-19 which has now reduced to 42 percent.
A Corporation official said, "The second wave of Coronavirus caused many people to gasp for oxygen. They were treated in hospitals with oxygen bed facilities, since the level of oxygen in their bodies was low. Keeping this in mind, 4,500 employees are now involved in visiting public door-to-door in the Corporation area to calculate the oxygen levels in people and ascertain if they are capable of combating the predicted third wave of Covid-19.
Similarly, 2,500 employees have been deployed in rural areas. These staff will measure the oxygen levels of people by using an oxymeter and if the oxygen level is below 95, they will be immediately sent to the nearest center. The workers have also been specifically instructed to check for colds and flu among people," he added.
