Jain Acharya Kirtiprabhasagar Suri Marasaheb reached Coimbatore on 'Padayatra' with his disciples and is expected to remain in the city for about four months.
Coimbatore: Jain Acharya Kirtiprabhasagar Suri Marasaheb reached Coimbatore on 'Padayatra' along with his disciples.
They are expected to stay in the city for about four months at the Rangai Gowder Street, Suparswanath Jain temple for the Chatrumas for penance and for Pravachan.
The monks were received by members of the Jain community led by Suparswanath, Temple President Vijayraj Jain, Secretary Mahavir Mehta with religious fervour amidst adhering to strict Covid protocol. Kishore Jain, Media Co-ordinator of the temple said that Jain monks don't use any worldly pleasures like vehicles or even electricity, and that they walk barefoot and the Acharya with his disciples had walked all the way barefoot from Tirunelveli stopping in small villages and towns en route to Coimbatore.
The Jain monks were welcomed by the devotees with Purna Kumbha with women carrying 'kalsha' or holy pots on their heads and singing religious stavans or songs. As they entered the temple, the members of SSJSM Youth Mandal led by its President Sripal Ostwal welcomed all adhering to social distancing and wearing masks.
Temple's ex-President Jayantilal Bafna, Babulal Mehta, Shantilal Mehta, Temple Vice-President Naresh Rathod, Treasurer Dayalal Jain, Jeetmal Obani , Kiran Raj Mutha Kishore Golecha, Sthamban Parshwanath Jain temple President Vijaychand Zhabak and others were present. Mahaveer Mehta compered the meet and Suparswanath Jain Mandal President, Sripal Ostwal concluded the event thanking one and all.
