Tourists thronged the ninth hairpin bend viewpoint of Valparai- Aliyar following curfew relaxation.
Coimbatore: Tourist places including Aliyar Dam, Park and Valparai near Pollachi were closed on April 19 due to the Covid-19 pandemic wreaking havoc in Tamil Nadu.
As the Government gradually announced a relaxation in the curfew, tourist spots were the first to be reopend on July 8. As a result, tourists were allowed to visit the Aliyar Dam, the Park and Valparai, a major tourist destination near Pollachi, Coimbatore district.
On Sunday, a large number of tourists and youth flocked to Aliyar Dam, the Park and Valparai.
On the 9th hairpin bend en route to Valparai, many of the tourists enjoyed the view and took selfies with friends of the Aliyar Dam and the forest in the background. Public have demanded that forest and police officials should ensure that tourists visiting Aliyar adhere to Covid-19 prevention rules.
