Coimbatore: The District Cyber Crime Police has warned parents to take proper care of their children as fraud through e-games is on the rise in Coimbatore.
According to a statement issued by the Coimbatore District Cyber Crime Police.

Online gaming has become very popular among the people (especially students) in recent times due to the corona infection situation. Thus people spend more time forgetting their identity in real online games. Many online multiplayer games support creating matches. Anyone with a competition link can sign in to their account and join the competition. Most users use Google or Facebook ID as a login ID for games.
Cybercriminal tricks:
1) The webpage is created just like the login page of the game.
2) The link to the game is shared by fraudsters through WhatsApp, telegroups, social media websites and YouTube links.
3) The username and password entered through the links are monitored by fraudsters. They also use it to gain instant access to a Google or Facebook account.
4) Fraudsters use the user's account for impersonation attacks by changing the user's password and mobile number.
5) In addition, fraudsters are able to obtain users' personal information, photos and location details.
Recommended Precautions:
1) Access online games only through verified apps on the Play Store, App Store and official game websites.
2) Never open an insecure (http: //) link.
3) Do not use the same account for general use and gaming.
4) Enable two-factor authentication for all accounts.
5) Change your account password frequently. Do not use the same passwords over and over again.
