Tea estate management introduces modern machinery in tea leaves harvesting


Coimbatore: Tea is cultivated in an area of 50,000 acres in Valparai, Coimbatore district.

About 30,000 workers are employed in these tea estates. Over the past one month, the Valparai region has seen increased production of tes in the estates due to the changing climatic conditions of rain and sun. Many workers are involved in harvesting.

The production of tea powder has also increased. The tea estate management has hence introduced modern machinery in the process of plucking tea leaves. The management said the work of 30 labourers are completed with just 5 labourers using machineries. Due to this the tea plantation management are taking steps to deploy modern machinery in most of the tea estates.
