Public have demand for the immediate clearing of stagnant sewage in Valparai boat house
Coimbatore: A boat house had been constructed on Stanmore Road by the municipality in Valparai, Coimbatore district. The launch was done hastily and the boat house has not been used since.
Wastewater from residential areas in Valparai Kamaraj Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, New Market, Gaggan Colony and Children's Park end up flowing into the boat house which is located across the river that currently flows through Kamaraj Nagar. Due to this, all the sewage from the river also ends up in the boat house. Wastewater stagnates upto the Children's Park since a barrier had been erected across the river for the boat house. Due to this, a stench emanates and the sewage poses a risk of infection for people living in the area.
Public have been repeatedly requesting the Valparai municipality administration to clear the stagnant sewage in the boat house. They have also demanded for an alternative route for sewage to drain away from the boat house area.
