'Rs. 5 lakhs incentive to be awarded for 7 Tamil Nadu athletes who will be participating in Tokyo Olympics:' Chief Minister M K Stalin
Coimbatore: Chief Minister M K Stalin announced that Tamil Nadu athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics will be paid Rs. 5 lakhs. The Olympics is scheduled to be held in Tokyo from July 23 to August 5 this year. The Athletics Federation of India has announced a 26-member squad for the tournament.
There are 16 men participating in individual athletics, 5 men in 4x400m relay, 2 men and 3 women in mixed 4x400m relay. Dhanalakshmi Sekar, Revathi Veeramani and Suba Venkatesan from Tamil Nadu will be representing India in the mixed 4x400m relay. Apart from these athletes, two Tamil Nadu players, Arogya Rajeev and Naganathan Pandi have also been included in the Indian athletics team. Both have been named in the squad for the 4x400m relay.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin has announced an incentive of Rs. 5 lakhs for all 7 athletes from Tamil Nadu who will participate in the Olympics.
