Elderly woman dies after hand gets trapped unexpectedly and severed in a machine while working at an oil mill in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: An elderly woman who was working at an oil mill near Madukkarai in Coimbatore accidentally got her hand trapped in a machine and died.
Police said Nallathambi and his wife Kaliammal (60) of Arisipalayam, Madukkarai in Coimbatore have been running an oil mill in the same area for the past two years. On Monday, Kaliammal was at work when unexpectedly her right hand got stuck in the oil drum. Her arm was severed and she screamed in pain.
Hearing the scream, her son Muthukumar rushed to the spot where his mother was working and was shocked to find her lying in a pool of blood. He rushed her to a private hospital in Coimbatore but Kaliammal reportedly succumbed to her injuries and died. The Madukkarai police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
