Elderly man electrocuted on plantation in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A farmer was electrocuted while removing a severed power line near Coimbatore.
Police identified the victim as Periyasamy (61) of Sencherimalai Sengattuthottam in Coimbatore, where he worked as a labourer in a banana plantation in the area. He is survived by his wife Nagammal (50) and son Karuppasamy (20).
Periyasamy was working on the farm as usual on Monday, but was unexpectedly electrocuted when he removed a power cord by hand. He was thrown afar and died on the spot. The plantation owners who found Periyasamy electrocuted, reportedto the Sultanpet police who arrived at the scene and recovered the body, and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. Following this, the police have registered a case under Section 176 and are conducting an investigation.
