DMDK protests in Coimbatore against rise in prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and construction materials
Coimbatore: The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) protested in Coimbatore over rise in prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and construction materials at the Grievance Day meeting which was held in Coimbatore, on Monday.
More than a 100 people gathered at the entrance of the post office near the Coimbatore Collector's Office carrying flags, led by Cotton Senthil, Coimbatore District Secretary, under the order of DMDK leader Vijayakanth. There were heavy police security arrangements.
The protesters denounced the Central Government and chanted slogans tocurb the rise in prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, construction materials and essential commodities and also urged the permanent closure of the TASMAC stores.
They also alleged that with the rise in prices on one hand and the impact of the Covid pandemic on the other, common people were dying.
The protest lasted more than an hour and was attended by more than 100 people, including South District Organization Secretary Dinakaran, North District Organization Officer Sivaraman, Coimbatore District Councillor Rangaraj State Women's Wing Deputy Secretary Vanitha Durai.
