Kerala State Police have arrested five people from Tirupur for swindling jewellery and money from Kerala youths claiming to arrange for marriage.
Tirupur: Ramakrishnan is from Alathur in Palakkad district of Kerala. He was looking for a bride and had advertised for a bride in the Kerala state newspaper last March.
A man from Palladam in Tirupur district contacted Ramakrishnan on the phone saying that he knew of a woman ready to be married. Relying on this, Ramakrishnan on April 1st came in the car with his friend Praveen to Palladam. Then the person who contacted them on the phone took both of them and made them sit in a house and went to bring the girl. After a while a gang of eight people surrounded the two and tied them up.
They intimidated them with a knife and snatched 7 sovereign jewellery, and took Rs. 40,000 from the ATM and sent them back. They went to Alathur and lodged a complaint with the police. Following this, the police received information that they were in Tirupur under the Central Police jurisdiction.

Kerala Special Police arrested Vimal from Kanjikode, Palakkad, Prakash, Siva, Vignesh and Manikandan from Tirupur and took them to Palakkad.
