Places of worship to be opened from July 5 in Coimbatore: Public happy

Coimbatore: A full lockdown was declared in Coimbatore last month due to the spread of coronavirus. Coimbatore district has the highest number of cases in Tamil Nadu.

So there was a delay in granting relief to Coimbatore district despite gradual relaxations being given in various districts. It was announced at a consultative meeting chaired by the Chief Minister yesterday that temples could be opened from next Monday to the 5th. For the past one and a half months, devotees who could not go to the temples and perform darshan caused distress to the general public.

The order issued by the Tamil Nadu government yesterday has made the public happy.

Today, the temple administration is involved in the cleaning of all the famous temples in Coimbatore, including the Coimbatore Koniyamman, Thandumariamman, Marudhamalai Murugan Temple and the Kovaipudur Ayyappan Temple. When asked about this, temple administration said, "Devotees were standing in the doorway and worshiping as the temples were closed due to lockdown. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered the temple to open from the 5th. So the devotees are very happy."

The temples will be open as usual from 6 am on Monday. A special puja is scheduled to be held at 6 am as the temple reopens after a period of one month. It is to be attended by all VIPs and devotees. The management of the temple informed that special poojas would be performed to prevent the recurrence of diseases. The opening of the temple has caused great joy to the devotees. Similarly, the main Christian churches and mosques in Coimbatore are also to be opened. It is to be noted that cleaning work is underway there too.
