Two children drown and die while playing near a rock pit near Palladam
Tirupur: Kamaraj is from Pallipalayam area next to Palladam in Tirupur district and his wife is Lakshmi. He is a native of Trichy, he rents a godown at Pallipalayam and runs a power loom.

They have a daughter Sangavi (11) and a son Chandanu (8). They are staying home as schools have been closed due to Coronavirus pandemic. It seems that the two of them often go to the rock pit near the house and have a habit of playing. The two who went to play todaydid not return for long. Their parents went in search of the two and were not able to find them nearby.
After a long search, Sangavi's body was recovered when they went down into the pit and searched in the water. They started to look for Shantanu's body with the help of others. Shantanu's body was not found because the pit was 80 feet deep.

They then informed the Palladam fire department and firefighters searched the area for two hours. Palladam Tahsildhar Devaraj and Mangalam police are investigating. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the rock pit belonged to KTN Selvaraj and was operating without government permission. It is to be noted that two other boys drowned in the same rock pit last year.
