Labourer arrested under POCSO for sexually abusing girl in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Poor people from nearby districts and other states come and work living in huts and doing various kinds of labours in and around Coimbatore.
Others in the same area take advantage of their poverty and play with the girls, buy them snacks, toys, and sexually harass them. Similarly, a construction worker who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl was arrested and jailed under the POCSO Act.
Police said, "Lakshathipathy (52) is from Saibaba Colony, PN Puthur, Coimbatore. He has been staying and working in the area and got acquainted with a 14-year-old girl living nearby. Lakshathipathy used to take the girl to the shops from time to time and used to play with him. He then sexually abused the girl who came home yesterday. The girl told her mother and the girl's mother lodged a complaint at the Saibaba police station. Saibaba Colony police, who have registered a case on the complaint, have arrested and jailed him under the POCSO Act."
