CODISSIA thanks TN Govt. for releasing subsidies to industries; Requests for 100 percent relaxation from lockdown
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and the Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan convened two virtual meetings on June 2 and 3, 2021 with the General Manager, District Industries Centre and CODISSIA.
It was decided and announced at the meeting by the Industries Commissioner that the subsidies will be released to industries who have applied for the same, before June 30, 2021. Accordingly, the subsidy amount of Rs.14 crores has been released as assured which has greatly helped industries during the pandemic situation. The balance Rs.1.2 crores subsidy which is the pipeline is also expected to be relased soon.
In a press release, CODISSIA said, "We immensely thank the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin and the Industries Commissioner for having released the subsidy amount to the industries. Coimbatore has been on complete lockdown and we have not been able to operate business for more than seven weeks. MSMEs have been in acute shortage of funds due to nil business on account of the lockdown and a lot of businesses have been left in the lurch.
While business activity has come to a halt, entrepreneurs are still weighed down by loans, taxes, electricity bills, employees’ salaries, rent and other daily operating expenses despite the lack of income flow. Therefore, unless the industries are going to be running in full capacity, survival will become a great question mark."
"Moreover, partial lockdowns will not help the industries in any way and it will affect the livelihoods of people and squeeze the economy further, without the proper availability of transportation etc. Therefore, we humbly request the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin to announce 100 percent relief from lockdown, from July 5, 2021. Along with this, the pace of vaccination is to be picked up and Covid-19 precautions must continue among the people.
Therefore, we request the CM to provide vaccines to all those eligible to be vaccinated so that they will be able to attend to their normal business without any fear of the pandemic. We hope the Government will initiate an action plan for Coimbatore to get 100 percent relaxations during lockdown, soon, to help the MSME industries to come out of this crisis," stated CODISSIA in the press release.
