Migrant workers arriving at Tirupur from outstations tested for Covid-19 at railway station
Coimbatore: Amidst the complete lockdown imposed in the wake of the second wave of Covid-19 infections spreading rapidly across the country, the Government lately has given permission to knitwear companies and its affiliates to operate 100 percent in Tirupur.
Due to this, migrant workers who had returned to their hometown and other districts are now returning to Tirupur . Hence, intensive monitoring activities have been organized on behalf of the Corporation administration in Tirupur district to prevent the spread of the disease.
As part of this drive, Covid-19 testing is being carried out by the Corporation Health Department at the Tirupur railway station even as outstation workers began arriving in Tirupur on Thursday by Shalimar, West Bengal to Thiruvananthapuram train. The contact numbers and addresses of the workers undergoing Covid-19 tests are collected and stored. They have also been isolated for three days in the companies they work at and have been instructed to work only after the end of the isolation period.
