Consultative meeting held on New Wage Contract of Tea Plantation Workers in Valparai
Coimbatore: The consultation meeting of the Valparai Trade Union Confederation on the new wage agreement of tea plantation workers in Valparai, Coimbatore District was chaired by V Hameed.
The following resolutions were passed at the meeting in which the plantation principals were required to come forward on July 1 to pay Rs. 200 per 100 mulli at a basic rate of Rs. 400. Supervisors are to be given a basic salary of Rs.14.40 per 100 mulli and Rs.200 per 100 mulli, Rs.2, 3, 5, 10 with every kilo from July 1 and to provide Rs. 15,000 for C Grade workers from July 1
The Forest Department has advised administrations to provide toilet facilities as part of the housing quarters. A resolution was also passed to hold protests in front of the concerned tea estate management office from July 8 to emphasize various demands including action to be taken to make temporary workers permanent on the basis of the number of days worked, legally.

Advocate Vinodkumar, Senthilkumar, AITUC Manikkam, Periyasamy, MLF Kalyani, CITU Paramasivam, AWU Varghese, Edward, Dharmaraj, Balraj, Arunagiri, Kandasamy, Shaju, Thangavel, Karthik, Senthil Murugan.
