Efforts should be made to plant trees to restore nature and save the next generation: Pasumai Iyakkam requests
Coimbatore: A consultative program with volunteers on behalf of the Pasumai Iyakkam was held at the hall on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore on the topic of conserving nature.
Speaking on the occasion, Sivakumar, the leader of the movement, said that the Pasumai Iyakkam has started to restore the lost nature. He said, trees planted in the name of reclaiming nature are not being maintained and said Pasumai Iyakkam will plant trees and operate to generate income for the volunteers. Membership enrolment is being conducted by volunteers throughout Tamil Nadu.

He also said that one lakh and twenty thousand people have become members till now.
Speaking to reporters later, he said, "Volunteer registration is taking place under the topic "Munnal Kudiyarasu Thalaivar Abdul Kalam Uyirthelugirar". Five lakh saplings will be planted on his memorial day on July 27 to try to get a natural resurgence. Oxygen levels in the air have dropped from 100 percent 10 years ago to 50 percent and are now at 17 percent. Everyone must come forward to make efforts to plant trees to save the next generation. Tamil Nadu Pasumai Iyakkam offices are also to be opened to restore the lost traditional arts. So far 1.20 lakh people have joined the Pasumai Iyakkam. "
He asked for creation of Green Defense Force in schools and colleges to engage students. He added volunteers can enrol by downloading an application called Pasumai Iyakkam from the Google Play Store. Volunteers were given tree saplings free of charge after the Pasumai Iyakkam event. Green Movement executives were accompanied by Secretary Murugesh Babu, Treasurer Tamil Bharathi and Deputy Chairman Ravi and Secretary Vijayakumar.
