Leftists and Viduthalai Siruthaigal protest against artificially hiked fuel prices, pay TN’s GST dues and repeal the amended farm laws by central government

Leftists and Viduthalai Siruthaigal protest in front of District Collector's condemning central government

Coimbatore: Left-wing and Viduthalai Siruthaigal parties staged a protest near the Coimbatore district collector's office, demanding the central government to take action to reduce the artificially hiked fuel prices and provide adequate vaccines to the Tamil Nadu government instead of selling them to private corporates.

They raised slogans calling on the central government to provide adequate vaccines and to immediately reduce the price of petroleum products.

Led by Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan, the protest was being held on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of this month, urging the central and state governments to take action to curb the rise in petrol and diesel prices. He demanded that “petrol and diesel being sold at the same price when the BJP government came to power in mid-2014. The three agriculture laws enacted by the central government should be withdrawn and coronavirus relief funds of Rs. 7500 should be provided to families. The central government should immediately pay the Rs 12,000 crore GST dues pending to the Tamil Nadu government.

He condemned that “it is not acceptable to sell coronavirus vaccines for the first time in India when polio and measles vaccines are provided free of cost. The vaccines should be provided free of cost and that the vaccines should be provided to Tamil Nadu without any discrimination as requested by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.”
