Police launch man-hunt for burglars who looted cash and silverware from two houses in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Two houses in the city were looted of Rs. 77,000 and 3 kg of silver items. Nelson (44) from Vadavalli's Arunachalam Nagar works as an engineer in a private company.

On June 8, Nelson's father-in-law had passed away and he had gone to Coonoor with his family for the funeral. On Sunday, his neighbours in Coimbatore found the door of his house broken into and immediately informed Nelson on the phone. When Nelson reached his house in Coimbatore, he discovered that his wardrobe had been broken into and a laptop along with Rs. 70,000 cash had been stolen.

In a similar burglary, the house of Manikandan (45) of Sindhu Street, Navavoorpirivu who works as a Headmaster in a private school was burgled. Manikandan had gone to his farm in Pollachi with his family two months ago. He had returned home on Tuesday to discover that the door of his house had been broken into and 3 kg of silverware including a silver plate, lamp and pot kept in the pooja room and Rs. 7,000 from the wardrobe were stolen. Vadavalli police have registered a case and are investigating both burglaries.
