Two arrested for attempting to smuggle ration rice from Coimbatore to Kerala; 300 kg ration rice confiscated
Coimbatore: Two men were arrested for attempting to smuggle 300 kg of ration rice from Coimbatore to Kerala.
The rice was seized by the Civil Supplies Crime Investigation Police and Pollachi Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Sub-Inspector Maruthu and other police officials conducted a vehicle inspection from R S Puram to Seeranaickenpalayam junction in Coimbatore.
When the officials inspected an Omni car that was passing by, they discovered that ration rice was being smuggled to Kerala.Following this, the two men who were in the Omni car were arrested and police are investigating further the smuggling racket.
Police officials said, "The vehicle inspection is being carried out on the orders of the Additional Director of Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation and SP of R S Puram. When an Omni car was inspected at Seeranaickenpalayam, 300 kg of ration rice was found. We have arrested the men involved in the smuggling of rice and are interrogating Aravindakshan (39) from Menonpara, Valayalkaransalla in Kerala and Anand (29) of Telungupalayam, Coimbatore.
