C Sylendra Babu IPS to take charge as DGP of TN with effect from July 1

Chennai: Following the scheduled retirement of incumbent DGP, JK Tripathy, on June 30, IPS officer, C. Sylendra Babu has been appointed as the Director General of police, Tamil Nadu. He is take charge on July 1, 2021.

A finalising probables for the post of DGP of Tamil Nadu was held at the Union Public Service Commission's (UPSC) office in New Delhi which was attended by Top officials from the state and the UPSC. A list of three names was finalised by the commission in accordance with the Supreme Court's directions -- C Sylendra Babu and Karan Singha of 1987 batch IPS, and Sanjay Arora of the 1988 batch.

"Accordingly, the Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi convened the Empanelment Committee Meeting on June 28 at New Delhi and recommended a panel of names of IPS officers as suitable for appointment to the post of Director General of Police and Head of Police Force, Tamil Nadu.The Government have examined the recommendations of the Commission carefully and independently along with their service records.

The Government after due consideration has appointed C.Sylendra Babu, IPS, (TN:1987) as Director General of Police and Head of Police Force of TN with effect from 01.07.2021", as quoted in an official statement.
