Family abducts recently-wedded daughter to separate her from husband at Vellalore in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A woman from Madurai district who was recently married to her lover was abducted in a car in front of her husband in Coimbatore.
Vigneswaran (26), the son of Murugesan from Nadupatti village, Kodaikanal taluk, Dindigul district works in a private company in Coimbatore. He reportedly fell in love with Madhumitha, daughter of Pandiyarajan from Vadipatti taluk, Madurai district. The couple got married on April 26 at the Coimbatore Perur temple since their parents objected to their love affair.
The couple, Vigneswaran and Madhumitha then went to the Thandikudi police station in Dindigul district and requested for protection. Following this, the police called Madhumitha's parents and initiated peace talks. Madhumitha's parents did not consent to the marriage that had taken place and since Madhumitha was adamant on living with Vigneswaran, Madhumitha's parents asked her to hand over the gold jewellery that she had taken from home.
Following this, Madhumitha returned her jewellery following a written statement from both parties. Vigneswaran then took his wife Madhumitha to Vellalore in Coimbatore and lived by themselves in a house. On Monday, when Vigneswaran and his wife Madhumitha were rding on a two-wheeler to buy household items, a speeding car overtook Vigneswaran's two-wheeler.
Madhumitha's father Pandiyarajan and Madhumitha's mother Manjula reportedly got out of the car, forcibly grabbed Madhumitha who was on the two-wheeler, pushed her into their car and drove away. Vigneshwaran was too shocked to react even as the car sped away from the spot.
Vigneshwaran later lodged a complaint with the Podanur police who have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
