Two arrested for smuggling alcohol in luxury car, two cars confiscated near Annur
Coimbatore: Two cars were confiscated for smuggling liquor bottles near Annur in Coimbatore.
On Monday, the police led by Sub-Inspector Silambarasan were on patrol at Kariyampalayam near Annur in Coimbatore district when they spotted a few men shifting liquor bottles from one car to another and rounded them up immediately.
Dinesh Kumar (28) of Nallur, Erode district and Gopalakrishnan (35) of Komangalam, Tirupur district were arrested. Arun (40), a car owner from Udumalai fled from the spot. The investigation revealed that Arun had bought 467 quarter pint liquor bottles worth Rs. 2 lakh from Dindigul district and brought them in a car to hand them over to Dinesh Kumar. Police confiscated both luxury cars as well as 467 bottles of liquor. Annur police have registered a case and are searching for the elusive Arun.
