"Over 70 lakh vaccines will arrive in Chennai in July:" Health Minister Subramanian
Coimbatore: Minister M Subramaniam has announced that the Central Government will provide 71 lakh doses of the Covid vaccine in July.
He said thus far 1.44 crore vaccine doses have been received and 1.41 crore people have been vaccinated. The Department of Health had announced that the vaccines in stock in Tamil Nadu would be used completely by Tuesday. Vaccination has also been halted in many camps in Chennai due to shortage of vaccine stock.
"While people are eagerly queuing up to get vaccinated, most are disappointed when they are forced to return home due to shortage of vaccines. The Central Government, aware of the shortage of vaccines has sent 2 lakh vaccines. They are scheduled to arrive in Chennai at 5 pm today," stated Minister Subramaniam.
"Health Secretary Radhakrishnan has also reiterated that the vaccines being sent would not be enough even for a day. In this situation, the Central Government has stated that 71 lakh vaccines will be given to Tamil Nadu in July," assured Minister M Subramanian.
