Tea estate workers overjoyed as tea yield increases due to optimal weather in Valparai

Coimbatore: Tea is cultivated in about 50,000 acres in Valparai, Coimbatore district.

The tea estates employ workers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the northern states of Assam, Jharkhand and Bihar. Valparai has been experiencing intermittent rains for the last two weeks and tea plantation administration have continued to fertilize their tea estates.

Due to this, new leaves can be seen on the tea bushes which is also aided by good sunshine that is necessary for an increase in tea yield.

The increase in tea yield and production has generated more work for tea plantation workers, thus contributing to their extra income.
