Police removed a 150-year-old Peepal tree that fell in Perur, Coimbatore causing traffic congestion
Coimbatore: A 150 year old Peepal tree near Coimbatore uprooted yesterday. Fortunately as there were few people on the road there were no casualties.
Perur police informed the fire department who reached there and cut down the tree lying on the road and removed them safely. This caused traffic congestion in the area. It is to be noted that this tree has been providing shade to the public for the past 150 years.
The tree fell near the Aatruvazhi Patti Ganesha Temple on the Bokline and fell across the road. Perur Tahsildhar then informed the Thondamuthur Fire and Rescue Station in the morning. Station Officer Ravichandran from Thondamuthur fire department executed the removal of the tree from the road.
