City's R S Puram multi-level car parking expected to be completed within 2 months

City's R S Puram multi-level car parking expected to be completed within 2 months.

Coimbatore: In an effort to address the ever-increasing traffic congestion on the main roads of Coimbatore, the district administration had decided to build a multi-level car park on DB Road, R S Puram at an estimated cost of Rs. 43 crore on an area of 4.5 acres.

The work was started in July 2019 by a private company. Currently, most of the construction work has been completed, but infrastructure work is underway including the installation of ‘hydraulic’ mechanical technology used to load and unload cars.

While many migrant workers have left for their home states due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, work on the multi-level car parking project was delayed due to shortage of labour. The work is currently expedited and a Corporation official said that the work has been planned to be completed within the next two months.

"The majority of the construction work on the multi-level car park has been completed. The remaining work, infrastructure and technical application work is currently underway. No power connection has been provided for the project thus far. We have applied for it and it will be available soon. Temporary test runs are being carried out by the generator," he added.
